Mass-manufactured nuclear reactors on gigasites for industrial power, AI data centers and clean fuels
Valar Atomics is a nuclear energy company founded in 2023 by Isaiah Taylor (CEO). Instead of building one-off reactors for the grid, it aims to manufacture large numbers of small high-temperature gas reactors (helium-cooled, graphite-moderated, using TRISO fuel) and chain them together on large energy campuses it calls gigasites, selling grid-independent power, hydrogen and clean hydrocarbon fuels to data centers and heavy industry. Its Ward 250 test reactor at the San Rafael Energy Lab in Utah went critical in June 2026 under the U.S. Department of Energy's reactor pilot program. In August 2026 Valar announced a $1B Series B led by Sequoia Capital, plus a $200M credit facility led by Erebor Bank (per the company and TechCrunch; Bloomberg reported a $6B valuation). In October 2026 the company publicly detailed a legal dispute with early investor Day One Ventures over pro-rata rights.
