About
Deno (Deno Land Inc.) was founded by Node.js creator Ryan Dahl to build the Deno runtime, a JavaScript and TypeScript runtime with built-in TypeScript, npm support and security by default. The company also built the Deno Deploy hosting service, the JSR package registry, the Fresh web framework and celld, an open-source, self-hostable implementation of the Cloudflare Workers and Durable Objects programming model released in August 2026. On October 9, 2026 Deno announced that its entire team is joining Cloudflare to make Workers-style self-hosting a first-class option; the Deno runtime will receive bug-fix and security releases for another year and remain open source, Deno Deploy will run for six more months, and JSR will keep operating on Cloudflare infrastructure.
