Perceptive is developing a handheld intraoral scanner using OCT technology that captures 3D volumetric data below the gum line and through enamel without ionizing radiation, achieving up to 97% specificity for caries detection. AI processes the data for diagnostics and treatment planning. A dental robotics system is also in development targeting automated restorations (e.g., crowns) with 100-micron precision.
