Airthium's heat pump reaches up to 550°C and is delivered in shipping-container-like units that connect to existing steam networks. The system automatically chooses between electricity (when cheap and clean) and gas boilers to cut costs and carbon hour by hour. The underlying reversible air-heat engine can also convert heat back to electricity, enabling long-duration thermal storage.
