Universal RISC-V processor for physical AI that unifies signal processing, AI inference and real-time control
Ubitium is a German semiconductor startup building a universal processor for physical AI, meaning machines such as drones, robots, vehicles and industrial equipment that must sense, think and act in real time. Instead of combining a separate DSP, NPU and CPU, its coarse-grained reconfigurable architecture (CGRA) uses one array of programmable elements that is allocated at runtime across signal processing, AI inference and control, with unified memory and standard RISC-V tooling. Its first chip, the UB108 with 256 processing elements on Samsung's 8nm process, returned from the fab in 2026 and demonstrated all three workloads on the same array. Founded in 2024 by CEO Hyun Shin Cho, CTO Martin Vorbach (founder of reconfigurable-processor pioneer PACT XPP) and Peter W. Weber, it is headquartered in Düsseldorf with research and engineering centres in Rülzheim and Karlsruhe. On 13 October 2026 it announced $14 million in new seed funding led by Ibex Investors with OpenOcean, existing investors KBC Focus Fund, Runa Capital and Inflection, and Quantum Systems co-CEO Florian Seibel, bringing total seed funding to $18 million.
