About

Type One Energy is a Knoxville, Tennessee-based fusion energy company founded in 2019 by stellarator experts who previously built five stellarators around the world. It acts as technology provider and original equipment manufacturer for the Tennessee Valley Authority's Infinity Two project, a 400 MWe stellarator fusion power plant at TVA's Bull Run Energy Complex, preceded by the Infinity One prototype and workforce training platform scheduled for startup in 2029. Rather than manufacturing most components in-house, it designs the plant and relies on a network of suppliers, with AECOM working on engineering and Commonwealth Fusion Systems licensing its high-temperature superconducting magnet technology. Christofer Mowry is CEO. In October 2026 it announced a $200 million Series B, aiming to bring its first plant online by 2034.
