Tokyo Artisan Intelligence (TAI) is a Yokohama-based Tohoku University spinout that provides edge AI solutions for railways, infrastructure, local governments and industrial sites, and develops its own low-power AI semiconductor chips, including the Manta Ray chip project. In October 2026 it announced a Series C first close totalling 1.27 billion yen, led by Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Capital and including a loan from Mizuho Bank.
