Label-free single-cell analysis platform for immunotherapy potency testing
SpectaCell is a Ghent-based life sciences company spun out of imec, VIB and Ghent University. Its platform combines chip-based imaging with data analysis to track large numbers of individual cells and their interactions directly, at high resolution and over time, without fluorescent labels, so developers can see how a treatment affects individual cells. It targets immunotherapies such as cell therapies (including CAR-T) and T-cell engagers, and is developing a cartridge-based instrument meant to deliver results in hours rather than days, for use from early R&D through manufacturing quality checks. Founded in 2026 by Mathieu Rabaey, Veronique De Vroey, Jan Van de Velde and Tony Montoye (CEO), it launched in October 2026 with €6M in seed financing led by imec.xpand, with PMV's Flanders Future Tech Fund, InnovationQuarter Capital, Qbic and VIB participating (per imec).
