Swiss deep-tech company using plasma-based active noise control to cut low-frequency noise
Sonexos SA is a Swiss deep-tech company that develops solid-state active noise control. Its patented Plasmacoustic Metalayer uses a software-controlled layer of plasma to absorb sound at a surface, targeting low-frequency hum from fans, compressors and motors in appliances, HVAC, data-centre cooling and cabin interiors, with no moving parts. The foundational technology is licensed from EPFL, and the company runs paid prototype-integration programmes with appliance and HVAC manufacturers, targeting first series production in early 2028. Founded by CEO Mark Donaldson, it raised a CHF 5 million Pre-Series A in October 2026 led by Valquest Partners with participation from Bosch Ventures.
