Autonomous flight systems that can be installed on existing aircraft
Reliable Robotics, based in Mountain View, California, develops autonomous flight technology that can be installed on existing aircraft and is pursuing FAA certification. Its first system, continuous autopilot engagement, handles engine start, taxi, takeoff and landing while a pilot remains on board; later steps aim to move the pilot to a ground-control station. It is also developing a solid-state collision-avoidance radar and operates Reliable Airlines, an Albuquerque-based cargo operation flying Cessna Caravans. The company was co-founded by CEO Robert Rose and CTO Juerg Frefel, both SpaceX veterans. In October 2026 TechCrunch reported a $115 million extension of its Series D ($90 million equity led by Nimble Partners plus $25 million debt from Silicon Valley Bank), valuing it above $1 billion.
