We realized that S3 is kind of like "git for data" and have created services that make S3 function as a data hub for teams. Quilt consists of a Python Client, a web catalog for browsing and visualizing S3, and a CloudFormation backend for compute and identity management. Quilt Data is a Y Combinator company (Winter 2016).
