Indian full-stack biotech building ML-designed RNA vaccines and personalised cancer immunotherapies
PopVax is a clinical-stage Indian biotechnology company that uses machine-learning-driven protein design to develop vaccines against infectious diseases such as Hepatitis C, Strep A, TB, influenza, HPV, malaria and COVID-19, and precision cancer immunotherapies for hard-to-treat solid tumours. Founded in late 2021, it has built its own mRNA architecture, ionizable lipids and lipid nanoparticle formulations, and fast-turnaround GMP production. Its open-source broadly protective COVID-19 vaccine, funded by Vitalik Buterin's Balvi and the Gates Foundation, entered a Phase I trial in Australia in August 2026. PopVax has raised more than $7.5 million in equity from Good Ventures and individual investors. In October 2026 it launched personalised cancer vaccine manufacturing at its RNA Foundry in Hyderabad.
