Passively cooled sodium-ion grid energy storage for utilities, power producers and data centers
Peak Energy designs and deploys grid-scale sodium-ion energy storage systems with a proprietary passive cooling architecture that removes active cooling and planned maintenance, uses no water and targets lower lifetime cost and fire risk than conventional storage. Founded in 2023 by veterans of Tesla, Enovix and Fluence and based in Burlingame, California, it reports over $1 billion in commercial agreements including deals with Jupiter Power, RWE and Energy Vault, partnered with General Motors in June 2026 on next-generation sodium-ion cells, and is building a 4 GWh factory in Sacramento. In October 2026 it closed a $108 million Series B led by GM Ventures with Maverick Silicon, Infinite Capital, Eclipse, Xora Innovation and LG Technology Ventures. CEO and co-founder: Landon Mossburg.
