Investigational catheter-and-hydrogel left atrial appendage closure for stroke prevention in AFib
Parasol MedTech (Parasol Med Tech) is a Chicago-based medical device company developing an investigational catheter-and-hydrogel system to seal the left atrial appendage and reduce stroke risk in patients with atrial fibrillation. The approach is designed to conform to each patient's anatomy and leave no metal in the body. Founded by University of Chicago interventional cardiologist Atman Shah, M.D., and led by CEO Evan Singer, it announced an oversubscribed $2.75 million pre-seed round in October 2026 with Harper Court Ventures, UChicago Medicine Ventures and Cardiovascular Innovation Ventures.
