Nous Research is an open AI training and research lab that trains models, builds agents and develops infrastructure for open intelligence. It created Hermes Agent, an MIT-licensed, self-improving AI agent released in February 2026 that remembers projects, writes reusable skills and runs where users choose. Founded in 2023 and led by CEO Dillon Rolnick, it announced a $90M Series B in October 2026 at a $1.5B valuation, led by Robot Ventures with NVIDIA, Microsoft's M12, Samsung, Union Square Ventures, Menlo Ventures and Y Combinator among participants, to build Hermes for Businesses and a mobile app.
