About
Medcotec is a Daresbury, UK start-up developing contained powder transfer technology for pharmaceutical and other powder-handling manufacturers. Its first product, the patent-pending Helyx valve, is a full-bore, interlocked valve with the same part on both sides (no active/passive pair), available single-use to remove cleaning validation or in stainless steel with CIP/SIP, and designed to avoid the powder build-up, blockages and contamination of split-butterfly valves. Founded by CEO Emerson Mulvaney and serial entrepreneur Mike Taitt, Medcotec raised over £2.4 million in October 2026 from NPIF II – Mercia Equity Finance, LYVA Labs, the Liverpool City Region Seed Fund and private investors to run further trials and build its team.
