Ethiopian digital health platform to find doctors, book appointments, get medication delivered and digitise clinics
Medanit is an Ethiopian digital healthcare platform founded in 2022 by nurse and social worker Beamlak Alemayehu after she saw patients lose hours moving between pharmacies and hospitals to find medication, tests and specialists. What began as a medical directory now offers doctor search and appointment booking, telemedicine, medication ordering and delivery, diagnostic-centre search, a call centre and a Telegram bot for people without smartphones, plus hospital management and electronic medical record software for facilities that still run on paper. Medanit says it has onboarded 527 doctors and recorded 1.2 million visitors since January 2026; Alemayehu received a Bayer Foundation grant for women entrepreneurs, and the company is preparing to expand to Rwanda and Zambia (TechCabal, October 17, 2026).
