Anode-free sodium-ion battery cells and electrolytes made in America
Mana Battery is a Broomfield, Colorado battery technology company spun out of the University of Colorado Boulder. It develops high-energy anode-free sodium-ion cells, where the sodium anode forms in situ during first operation, built on a proprietary electrolyte platform, with the aim of a supply chain free of critical minerals and independent of China. Founded in 2023 and led by co-founder and CEO Tyler Evans with co-founder and CTO Nicholas Singstock, Mana raised a $10.15 million seed round in October 2026 led by Voyager Ventures with Union Square Ventures and Buff Gold Ventures, and in August 2026 signed a joint development agreement with Saft (TotalEnergies) to develop and validate anode-free sodium-ion cells for defense, aerospace, rail, data centers and industrial backup power.
