Luminous Robotics
Robot fleets that install solar panels on utility-scale solar farms
About
Luminous Robotics is a US-based robotics company whose LUMI robots pick and place solar panels during utility-scale solar farm construction, working alongside crews to take on repetitive heavy lifting; its stated mission is to make solar farm build speed up to 10 times faster. LUMI robots have been demonstrated on Australian projects including the Goorambat East solar farm in Victoria and the Culcairn solar farm in New South Wales, supported by $4.9 million from ARENA's Solar ScaleUp Challenge. In October 2026 ARENA awarded its Australian arm, Luminous Robotics Pty Ltd, up to $17.8 million under Solar Sunshot Round 2 toward a $39.7 million project to set up a Melbourne manufacturing facility and build around 100 LUMI robots by 2029.
