AI-first drug discovery company building on AlphaFold to design new medicines
Isomorphic Labs is an AI drug discovery company launched from DeepMind and led by founder and CEO Sir Demis Hassabis, with many team members having contributed to the Nobel-winning AlphaFold system. It has built predictive and generative AI models into a unified drug design engine, IsoDDE, that works across multiple therapeutic areas and drug modalities, letting much of the experimental work of finding drug candidates happen computationally. It runs internal drug design programmes and partners with pharmaceutical companies, including a strategic research collaboration with Novartis announced in January 2024 and expanded in February 2025. In May 2026 it announced a $2.1 billion Series B led by Thrive Capital, with Alphabet and GV alongside new investors MGX, Temasek, CapitalG and the UK Sovereign AI Fund.
