Customisable-dose drug implants aiming for a pill-free future for chronic conditions
imphatec Ltd is a British synthetic biology pharmaceutical company developing a subcutaneous implant platform that releases medication long-term with no patient input, with a dose that can be personalised to each patient. Its first focus is hypothyroidism, and the platform is designed to be applied to other established medications for chronic conditions. The implants have progressed through pre-clinical stages. Co-founded by Dr Hassan O. J. Morad and James P. Catt, imphatec closed an oversubscribed £1.5M seed round led by SynBioVen in October 2026 to move toward human clinical trials.
