About

IMIO develops and manufactures agricultural biologicals that improve crop performance, nutrient efficiency and soil function. Each microbial strain is grown and tested individually, blended in precise ratios and freeze-dried to stay viable through storage and application. Its Re-Gen products are applied to post-harvest crop residue to speed its breakdown and release nutrients for the next crop. Founded in 2019 by CEO Charles Smith, the company relocated from Vermont to Chicago, where it is building a headquarters, lab and biomanufacturing facility. In October 2026 it raised a $12 million seed round led by Sofinnova Partners with Chipotle's Cultivate Next, Starshot Capital, Grow Together Salinas, Earth Foundry and Serra Ventures.
