Haptic wristband that turns facial expressions and body language into touch for blind and low-vision users
HapWare is a Denver-based assistive technology startup (Techstars 2025) making ALEYE, a haptic wristband that connects to Meta smart glasses or a smartphone camera to detect facial expressions, gestures and body language and translate them into distinct vibration patterns on the wrist, for people who are blind, have low vision or are DeafBlind. Jack Walters is CEO and co-founder and Dr. Bryan Duarte is CTO and co-founder. In October 2026 ALEYE was named one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 and HapWare closed an oversubscribed 1.5 million US dollar pre-seed round led by Adaptation Ventures, with Sidecut Ventures, Mines Venture Fund, Avesta Fund and The Pitch Fund participating.
