Laser communication terminals for satellite constellations and airborne platforms
Golbriak Space is an Estonian spacetech company that designs, engineers and manufactures optical (laser) communication terminals for space and airborne applications, developing the optical, electronic, mechanical and software elements in-house on a common software-defined architecture. Its terminals reduce dependence on the host platform's pointing, easing integration and allowing several terminals on one spacecraft or aircraft, and include AI-enabled onboard data processing. Its main product families are ERMES AI and ERMES AI+ for small satellites and ARES for drones and high-altitude platforms. Founded by CEO Nicola Garzaniti, it raised a €4 million seed round in October 2026 co-led by Join Capital and PhotonVentures, with participation from the Takeoff accelerator, to scale production as it negotiates constellation programmes involving several thousand terminals.
