Edge AI and bioacoustics that keep wildlife away from runways, rails and roads
Flox Intelligence builds wildlife-deterrence systems for infrastructure. Its battery-powered edge devices use on-device AI to detect and identify animals and their behaviour, then play species-specific bioacoustic signals that guide them away from airports, railways, roads, farms and substations while adapting to avoid habituation; a software platform provides live activity, reporting and biodiversity data. Founded by Sara Nozkova as a 2020 spin-out from the AI lab at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, it now has global HQ in Syracuse, NY. Per TechCrunch (October 2026), about 150 devices are live across North America, Europe and Australia, Alstom is an OEM partner, and it has raised about $5 million across pre-seed and seed (seed led by Unconventional Ventures and Tilia Impact Ventures) and is opening a $10 million Series A. It is a 2026 TechCrunch Disrupt Startup Battlefield Top 20 company.
