About
FeBI Technologies is a Melbourne medtech startup developing a diamond-based quantum sensing test that measures the magnetic properties of iron bound in ferritin, aiming for an accurate and affordable test of iron status for iron deficiency and overload. It was co-founded by University of Melbourne Associate Professor David Simpson, Florey Institute Associate Professor Gawain McColl and Dr Nicole Jenkins. In October 2026 the University of Melbourne announced a $2.2M Stage 2 grant through the Australian Government's Critical Technologies Challenge Program to develop the test with First Nations communities.
