AI that learns from real-world experiments to accelerate scientific discovery
Empirical Machines (Interactive Intelligence Inc) is an AI-for-science startup founded by Shyamal Hitesh Anadkat, who spent nearly four years in Applied AI at OpenAI. Its stated mission is to accelerate scientific discovery with AI that learns from real-world experiments, with early work reported around chemical compounds. The company says it is built by leaders and founding team members from OpenAI, Sarvam AI and Google DeepMind, operates across Bangalore and the Bay Area, and is backed by Jeff Dean and other angels. In October 2026 Moneycontrol reported it was raising its first institutional round, upsized to about $20 million, with Peak XV Partners and Mettle Capital set to co-invest (reported, not yet announced by the company). The product is listed as coming soon.
