Decoding plants' electrical signals with Bombadil, a foundation model for plant electrophysiology
Electric Plant decodes the electrical signals that plants produce. It combines sensors with Bombadil, which the company describes as the first foundation model for plant electrophysiology, to interpret signals in a plant's stem and relay details about its needs to growers, farmers and foresters. Electric Plant was co-founded by CEO Justin Mast and neuroscientist Lee von Kraus. In October 2026 TechCrunch reported an $11.2 million seed round led by Onto Ventures and Climactic.
