Robot foundation models and a public API that turn camera feeds and plain-English instructions into robot actions
Dream Labs is a San Francisco AI company building what it calls the brain for everyday robots. Founded in 2026 by former leads of NVIDIA's GR00T robotics research, including co-founder and CEO Joel Jang, it develops Dream-1, a robot foundation model trained on video of people doing everyday tasks that predicts what happens next and outputs robot actions, and can control robots with grippers from different manufacturers zero-shot. It offers Dream API, fine-tuning as a service for new hardware, and a browser-based Robot Playground, and says it works with more than 20 hardware partners. In October 2026 it announced 90 million US dollars in seed funding led by B Capital along with Kindred Ventures, with participation from A.Capital, Unusual Ventures, SV Angel, Wing VC, Scribble VC and Adrian Aoun.
