About

Diraq is a quantum computing hardware company, spun out of UNSW Sydney in 2022 and led by founder and CEO Professor Andrew Dzurak, that turns modified silicon transistors into spin qubits using existing semiconductor foundries and CMOS fabrication. It aims to put millions of qubits on a single chip at low cost per qubit, and has demonstrated an eight-qubit array made with an industrial chip manufacturing process. Diraq partners with NVIDIA, Dell Technologies, GlobalFoundries and imec, has more than 130 staff, and operates in Australia and the United States, with a US headquarters in Palo Alto and labs in Chicago and Albuquerque. In October 2026 it was selected for Stage C, the final phase of DARPA's Quantum Benchmarking Initiative, with an initial US$51 million and potential funding of up to US$300 million.
