Simulation-based engineering assessments for hiring in hardtech
Colare is a San Francisco hiring platform built for hardtech companies such as rocket, satellite, defence and manufacturing firms. Its software turns a job description into simulation-based technical assessments, such as designing a part or a circuit board, so candidates solve real engineering problems in the tools they would use at work; Colare then scores both how they work and what they produce, aiming to save senior engineers' interview time and cut technical mis-hires. It was co-founded by Esther Thomas and Nain Abdi and launched in October 2026 with $2.5M in pre-seed funding from Afore Capital, Garage Capital and Acadian Ventures.
