Benchtop inertial-confinement fusion for tritium and power
Cambridge Heavy Industries is building a compact, tabletop inertial-confinement laser fusion device designed for rapid experimentation and eventual tritium production and warehouse-scale power plants. The concept emerged from MIT chemist Keith Nelson's lab; co-founder and CEO is Yun Kai. On 13 October 2026 TechCrunch reported a $6.2 million seed led by Azolla Ventures with Overlay, Neta Foundation, P3A, MassCEC and the Rothrock family.
