Athena (Athena Circle Corp.) is a San Francisco legal AI startup that delivers transactional legal services through an affiliated law firm, Athena Circle, rather than selling software to hourly-billing firms. Its proprietary AI agents review agreements against deal terms, flag inconsistencies, prepare redlines and draft client communications, while experienced attorneys make the legal decisions and approve all work. It started with commercial real estate acquisitions, sales and financing and charges a fixed fee per transaction. Founded by former Legora staff Cem Ucan (CEO) and Kieran John Keenan (CTO), Athena launched publicly in August 2026 and in November 2026 announced a $2.5 million pre-seed round led by a16z Speedrun.
