altM is a Bengaluru-based cleantech company founded in 2022 by former Tesla executives Apoorv Garg and Yugal Raj Jain. It converts lignocellulosic biomass such as sugarcane bagasse and rice straw into specialty chemicals and biomaterials that replace fossil-derived inputs, starting with beauty and personal care ingredients and with an R&D pipeline spanning textiles, construction, packaging and other industries. It operates an integrated R&D and pilot manufacturing facility in Bengaluru. In November 2026 altM announced a $10.3M Series A led by Rainmatter and Mela Ventures.
