Wayra is Telefónica's corporate venture capital and open innovation arm, founded in 2011 as a startup accelerator and evolving into a CVC in 2018. It operates primarily in Spain, Germany, the UK, and Brazil, investing in tech startups via a venture-client model that provides access to Telefónica's global customer base of 380M. Wayra has invested over €245M in more than 1,100 startups, with 200+ actively collaborating with Telefónica. It also designs open innovation programs for third-party corporations and runs acceleration initiatives such as the ACCIÓN health program in Spain.
